Dear MPSD community:
I’m writing to update you on our Superintendent search process.
As you know from our previous updates, the School Committee has been presented with 3 finalists: Ms. Sarah Shannon, Dr. Patrick Sullivan, and Dr. David Thomson.
This past week, we have held site visits around all of our schools in Marshfield with the finalists. I want to thank everyone who took the time to come to the staff and community/parent forums we held, as well as all of the educators who brought us into their classrooms to demonstrate the exceptional teaching and learning taking place in Marshfield.
I wanted to let you know that we were contacted by Dr. Thomson, who has informed us that he has decided to drop out of the search process. He appreciated his time in Marshfield and was very impressed with the district, but has decided to pursue other opportunities.
This Saturday, December 16, we will hold a special School Committee meeting to interview our two remaining finalists individually. While the Open Meeting Law states that only School Committee members may ask questions, this meeting is open to the public to attend and listen. Interviews will take place on the 2nd floor of the Seth Ventress Building, 76 South River Street. The schedule is as follows:
Ms. Sarah Shannon: 9AM
Dr. Patrick Sullivan: 10:15AM
The meeting will also be broadcasted live on Marshfield Community Media’s Education Access station (Comcast channel 8, Verizon channel 33).
As a reminder, the new Superintendent will be appointed at our final special School Committee meeting on Tuesday, December 19.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Sean Costello
Chair, Marshfield School Committee
