Good morning MPSD Families & Staff,
At approximately 8:15 AM today, we were informed by Marshfield Police that they were engaged in a safety matter approximately one-half mile down the road from the MHS/FBMS/MES complex.
Out of an abundance of caution, they asked those three schools to go into a Shelter In Place. Students and staff remained in the Shelter In Place for approximately 25 minutes and then they resumed the regular school schedule when advised by police the situation was under control and there was no longer any threat. During a Shelter In Place, students and staff remain in their rooms, but teaching and learning is able to take place.
There were more police officers at the MES, as the Shelter In Place was going into effect at the same time that students were arriving for the day and the police ensured a safe and orderly drop off.
We thank our students, staff and families for their patience and cooperation. We also want to thank the MPD for doing a tremendous job during a challenging time.
As this is an ongoing police matter, I am not at liberty to further discuss details related to this event.
Thank you and have a good day.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey W. Granatino
Superintendent
